GTA 6 Pre-Order Guide
GTA 6 pre-orders open tomorrow. After two delays spanning more than a year, Rockstar Games confirmed on June 18, 2026, that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI go live on June 25, 2026. The announcement came alongside the game’s official cover art reveal, the first major GTA 6 news in months.
This GTA 6 pre-order guide covers only what Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, or the two official trailers have officially confirmed. Where something is an industry estimate or still unannounced, this guide labels it clearly.
When Do GTA 6 Pre-Orders Start?
Pre-orders open on June 25, 2026, through digital storefronts and select physical retailers. Rockstar confirmed this directly via their official social media account alongside the cover art reveal.
Pre-orders go live through:
- PlayStation Store for PS5 digital copies
- Microsoft Store / Xbox Store for Xbox Series X/S digital copies
- Select physical retailers — Rockstar has not yet published the full list, but industry watchers widely expect Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and Walmart to participate
Both the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store already carry GTA 6 wishlist pages. Adding the game to your wishlist now will send you an automatic notification the moment pre-orders go live on the 25th.
One important note: the June 25 date covers digital storefronts first. Physical retailer listings may go live at slightly different times depending on the store and region, so check your preferred retailer’s page directly on that day.
GTA 6 Release Date
November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This marks the third release date Rockstar has announced. Rockstar first targeted Fall 2025, then pushed to May 26, 2026, then pushed again in November 2025 to November 19, 2026. The official statement on that second delay read: “These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has since repeatedly confirmed that the November date is firm.
According to the PlayStation Store, the game goes live at midnight local time in each region on launch day.
What about PC? Rockstar has not announced a PC version. Rockstar has confirmed only PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for launch.
What about older consoles? GTA 6 is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One. It targets current-generation hardware exclusively.
How Much Will GTA 6 Cost?
Rockstar has not announced the official price yet. Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed they will reveal the price on June 25, when pre-orders open.
Zelnick has publicly described the price as “fair.” Take-Two has also confirmed the game will carry no in-game advertising.
On industry estimates: most analysts expect the standard edition to land somewhere between $70 and $80. Some industry figures have floated higher pricing, and certain European retailers have posted placeholder price points that vary widely, but none of these figures carry official status. Treat any specific price you see before June 25 as unconfirmed.
GTA 6 Editions
Rockstar has not officially announced the GTA 6 pre-order edition lineup. They will reveal that information on June 25 alongside pricing. Rockstar has also confirmed no pre-order bonuses yet. The brief trailer Rockstar released on June 18 included no edition or bonus details.
Fans widely expect multiple editions based on Rockstar’s approach with previous releases, but nothing is official until June 25.
Where to Pre-Order GTA 6
Digital
The PlayStation Store and Xbox Store are the most straightforward options. Once listings go live on June 25, search for the game, pick an edition, and complete the purchase directly. Digital copies let you pre-load the game to your console before launch, so you can play from midnight on November 19.
Physical
Industry watchers expect major retailers to stock physical copies, though Rockstar has not yet published a complete list of participating stores. Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and Walmart top most lists of likely participants. Check their pages directly on June 25.
A Warning on Third-Party Sellers
Any website or listing that claims to sell GTA 6 pre-orders before June 25 at unusually low prices is not legitimate. Rockstar has not authorized any early pre-order window outside official storefronts. Stick to major retailers and the official PlayStation and Xbox stores.
How to Pre-Order GTA 6: Step by Step
On PS5:
- Open the PlayStation Store and search for “Grand Theft Auto VI”
- Select your preferred edition once listings go live on June 25
- Add to cart and confirm payment
- Start your pre-load closer to November 19 once it becomes available
On Xbox Series X/S:
- Open the Microsoft Store and search for “Grand Theft Auto VI”
- Select an edition and complete the purchase
- Pre-load works the same way before launch
Physical copy:
- Visit your preferred retailer’s website or store on June 25
- Select your edition and complete the order
- Most retailers do not charge until the order ships, but check each store’s individual policy
What Is GTA 6?
Since pre-ordering involves real money, here is what Rockstar has officially confirmed about the game itself.
The Setting
GTA 6 takes place in the fictional US state of Leonida, based on Florida. The game world covers Vice City, based on Miami; Grassrivers, based on the Everglades; the Leonida Keys, based on the Florida Keys; and additional areas including Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga National Park, and Port Gellhorn. Rockstar describes GTA 6 as the “biggest, most immersive evolution of Grand Theft Auto yet.”
The game satirizes 2020s American culture, taking aim at social media and influencer culture, modern law enforcement technology including police body cameras, and internet phenomena like Florida Man.
The Characters
GTA 6 introduces two playable protagonists.
Lucia Caminos is the first non-optional female protagonist in the mainline Grand Theft Auto series. She spent time in Leonida Penitentiary after fighting for her family following a move from Liberty City. She and Jason share equal billing as the game’s two leads.
Jason Duval worked for local drug runners in the Leonida Keys after serving in the military. He partners with Lucia in both the story and in crime.
A failed bank heist pulls Jason and Lucia into a state-wide conspiracy, forcing them to rely on each other to survive. Rockstar describes the partnership as inspired by Bonnie and Clyde.
Rockstar introduced the following supporting characters through the official website update that accompanied Trailer 2:
- Cal Hampton, Jason’s paranoid friend
- Boobie Ike, who runs a business empire in Vice City
- Dre’Quan Priest, who co-owns the record label Only Raw Records with Boobie
- Bae-Luxe and Roxy, a musical duo who perform under the name Real Dimez on Only Raw Records
- Raul Bautista, a seasoned bank robber
- Brian Heder, a longtime drug runner in the Leonida Keys and Jason’s landlord
The Trailers
Rockstar has released two official trailers so far.
Trailer 1 dropped on December 5, 2023, confirming Vice City and the state of Leonida as the setting and introducing Lucia as the series’ first female protagonist. Rockstar confirmed they captured the footage on PlayStation 5. The trailer has since accumulated over 279 million views on YouTube.
Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025, focusing on Jason, revealing both characters’ full names, and showing more of the world and supporting cast. Rockstar again confirmed they captured the footage on PlayStation 5. Alongside the trailer, Rockstar published 70 screenshots and several character and location descriptions on the official GTA 6 website. Trailer 2 pulled in over 475 million views within 24 hours across all platforms.
Rockstar has not officially announced a third trailer. Rockstar’s marketing campaign, which Take-Two confirmed would kick off in summer 2026, began with the June 18 cover art reveal and pre-order date announcement.
Development Notes
Rockstar began preliminary work on GTA 6 in 2014 and started principal production in 2020. Dan Houser did not write GTA 6, making it the first mainline Grand Theft Auto title without him since he left Rockstar in 2020.
In February 2026, Zelnick confirmed Rockstar used no generative AI in building the game world. Rockstar built every building, street, and neighborhood by hand.
Should You Pre-Order GTA 6?
There is no universal answer, and it depends on what you want.
Pre-order on June 25 if:
You are after a limited physical edition such as a Collector’s Edition, if Rockstar announces one. Rockstar launches historically generate high demand for limited editions, and stock goes fast. Placing a GTA 6 pre-order on June 25 gives you the best shot at securing one.
Wait if:
You only want the standard edition. Digital copies do not sell out, and Rockstar ships standard physical copies in large enough quantities that stock shortages are unlikely. Waiting also lets you read reviews first and check for any day-one technical issues before spending money.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Rockstar has not announced a PC version. Rockstar has confirmed only PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for the November 19, 2026 launch.
Will GTA 6 run on PS4 or Xbox One?
No. Rockstar built GTA 6 exclusively for current-generation hardware.

Rockstar has not announced the official price. It drops on June 25. Industry analysts generally expect somewhere in the $70 to $80 range for the standard edition, but Rockstar has not confirmed that figure.

Rockstar has confirmed none. The June 18 trailer included no bonus details. Expect more information on June 25.
Will GTA 6 include a new GTA Online?
Rockstar has not officially detailed the online component yet. Pre-release reporting points to plans for a significant online mode, but Rockstar has not announced specifics.
Will the November 19 date hold?
Take-Two has tied its FY2027 financial guidance directly to the November 19 launch. Digital storefronts also require a game to sit within 12 months of release before they open pre-orders, so the fact that pre-orders go live on June 25 itself signals the date is firm. A further delay remains possible, but all current evidence points to November 19 holding.
