GTA Community Reacts to Couple’s Viral GTA 6 “Contract Agreement”
With Grand Theft Auto VI just months away, fan excitement has reached the point where some players are apparently putting their devotion in writing. A photo shared on Reddit shows a couple holding up a printed document titled “Contract Agreement,” complete with the GTA VI logo at the top and two signatures at the bottom.
What the Contract Actually Says
The post was shared by Reddit user dontfwithme99, though it doesn’t appear to be the original source. A search through GTA subreddits couldn’t turn up the first person to post it, so the original may have already been deleted.
According to the document, the terms cover the ten days surrounding launch, from November 19 to November 29, 2026. During that window, one partner is granted permission to play GTA VI “as much as I want,” while the other agrees to a list of restrictions.
Those restrictions include a ban on walking in front of the screen during a mission, cutscene, heist, or online session. There’s also a list of banned phrases for whenever a mission goes badly, including lines like “it’s just a game” and “haven’t you been playing long enough.” Physical affection, conversation, and even small favors are also off the table until the player reaches a save point or safe house.
The last clause adds a twist. If the non-gaming partner puts at least £40 toward buying the game, they get to cancel one of the earlier rules.
Both partners signed the bottom of the page under the labels “Girlfriend/Wife” and “Boyfriend/Husband,” which is part of what made the post spread so quickly. It reads like a joke, but it’s presented with total seriousness.
The Community’s Reaction
Reddit users didn’t hold back once the photo started circulating. Some focused on the handwriting, with one commenter, radaradu1, pointing out that one signature looked far steadier than the other, joking that it gave away who actually wanted the deal signed.
Others weren’t as amused by the concept itself. Commenter TobeyDE called the entire idea of a written gaming contract “weird and childish,” a view that seemed to be shared by a fair number of people in the thread.
The timing didn’t help either. This meme landed right after Rockstar’s pre-order announcement, which already had fans frustrated over how little separates the standard edition from the pricier ultimate edition. For a fanbase already worked up, the contract gave people something lighter to argue about.
This Isn’t the First “GTA 6 Agreement” to Go Viral
The signed contract photo isn’t an isolated case. A separate post surfaced showing a more formal “Relationship Agreement” document, styled to look like an actual legal template, that anyone could theoretically print and use themselves.

That version reads more like a real contract than a joke between two people. It spells out a full week where one partner agrees to leave the other alone after the game installs and is ready to play, with only 30 minutes a day set aside for chores and another 30 for time with kids. It even includes a clause acknowledging that personal hygiene might take a hit during that week, and states the partner won’t complain about it. If the game isn’t finished within seven days, the agreement allows both sides to negotiate an extension.
It closes with signature lines for both partners and a note that the agreement falls under UK law, which is a strangely formal touch for something built entirely around a video game release.
A Sign of Just How Hyped Fans Are
Whether either document was ever meant to be taken seriously is beside the point. Posts like these tend to spread because they capture something real: millions of players around the world are counting down to November 19, and the wait has clearly gotten to people.
Most of the reaction online treats the whole thing as harmless fun, a way for fans to laugh at their own excitement while they wait out the final months before launch. Rockstar has plenty riding on this release being one of the biggest in gaming history, and if online chatter is anything to go by, a good number of relationships might be tested the week it finally drops.
